A detailed questionnaire and an introductory consultation will identify and address behaviour challenges. Each situation is unique so the number of visits and type of rehabilitation program required will also be discussed.

Private in-home training visits can address:

  • Dog-to-dog aggression
  • Resource guarding
  • Fear-based reactivity
  • Socialization of shy/fearful dogs

Behaviour is influenced by emotions. While our dogs cannot use words to speak they have multiple ways of communicating and displaying their emotions to let us know how they feel. Body language, calming signals, physiological signs and behaviour such as barking, growling and whining are forms of communication.

By paying attention to these clues a trainer can apply their knowledge of learning theory, environmental and genetic factors along with canine cognitive psychology (how a dog perceives and solves problems) to understand why a dog is acting in a certain way. Most importantly, a certified dog trainer will be able to help you understand what your dog is trying to tell you and show you how you and your pet can work together to achieve positive training results and the desired behaviour modification.
